A lot of my life revolved around how I looked. My measurement of happiness was directly connected to my weight and so was my sense of self worth. It didn’t matter how kind, talented or intelligent I was. If you grew up as a fat kid you know it’s very easy to develop a personality but very hard to develop confidence. Eating disorders take a lot of space and energy in someone’s life and mind. And although I lost weight, this weight loss happened over the course of 5 years with a way bigger and more important transformation: the one in my mind. It took me a lot of therapy and the right places and people to help me realize everything that my body was and is capable of, because my mind also is. And the brain is the most resilient organ in our bodies. I’ve never imagined I would feel so comfortable and safe around any wellness environment and @tag.running changed that.

There’s a quote that says we need to leave the island to see the island. Sometimes we need to completely leave our older version to embrace the version we can become.

Running It’s not you against yourself, but, really, to me, it is you connected to yourself, to others and to everything around you. And so it’s life, as the secret it’s not always about how fast you get there - but who you get there with and how much fun you all get in the process. Thank you to everyone sharing 6am weekends and 10pm pocari sweats with me.

I’ve started my year without being able to finish 5 minutes of running and I am now training for my first ever half marathon. Running will change your mind and that will change your entire life. Thank you Tag.
